Seed Library

Local Harvest Grocery, in conjunction with the Tower Grove Farmers’ Market, is proud to have and host a community Seed Library. It is permanently housed at Local Harvest Grocery, but makes periodic rounds to the Tower Grove Farmer’s Market and out into the community.

Our seed library is an effort to make healthy food more widely available and continue to adapt plants to thrive in our area. Anyone may “check out” seeds for personal use. We ask that you grow them, enjoy the fruits of your labor, and then save the seeds and return them to the seed library.

In order to maintain and grow our collection, we’ve organized our seed library by difficulty to save true-to-type seeds using a color-coded system. If you are new to seed saving, please limit your seed selections to the green “easy” categories. Gardeners with more experience will find yellow “moderate” and red “challenging” tabs. We also offer free seed saving guides and periodic classes on seed saving.

Please visit the store and speak with one of our knowledgeable employees to learn more about our Seed Library.
